Have an idea? Pitch it.

Every project in this org started as someone's idea. If you've got one — for the community or for literally anything else — this is how it gets in front of people who can help build it.

How pitching works

Order matters here — this is the actual weekly cycle.

  1. Open a pitch

Write up your idea using the format below. For now, post it in Discord — the dedicated ideas repo is coming soon.

  2. It joins that week's batch

The admin collects every new pitch that comes in during the week.

  3. The community votes

A poll goes up in Discord with that week's pitches. Everyone gets a say.

  4. The winner gets built first

Whichever pitch wins the poll is what the community rallies around building next.

What to include in a pitch

Answer these and it's ready to post. No template file yet — just cover this in the issue or the Discord post.

01

What is it?

One or two sentences. If you can't say it plainly, it's not scoped yet.

02

What problem does it solve?

Why should this exist? Who actually runs into the problem it fixes?

03

Who's it for?

Members, maintainers, outside users — be specific about who'd actually use it.

04

What's the rough scope?

What a first working version includes — and just as important, what it doesn't, so it stays buildable.

05

Does something like it already exist?

Check the org's repos first. If it extends or replaces something, say so.

06

Are you pitching it, or leading it?

Both are fine. Pitching-only is fine. Wanting to lead means you're first in line to drive it if it wins.

Every real idea gets built — eventually

Winning the weekly vote decides what gets built first, not what gets built at all. The only ideas that don't happen are ones that already exist somewhere in the org, or are too small to be worth their own open-source project.

What could you pitch?

Not a checklist — just the kind of ideas already floating around. It doesn't have to help the community at all; it can be any project you want to see exist. Two of these — the contribution-rank bot and the prompt/spec hub — are already things we want built. Pitch one and lead it, and it happens faster.
